That’s New Thursday!

So we had planned to bring you an update on the road construction but since it’s pretty much come to a standstill again we decided to do something else.

But for those of you who are interested in the construction a quick note: They have paved the road up until the Navy base, but at that point the forward momentum stopped. The road in front of the Navy base is completely torn up, no sidewalks have been put in yet and there are piles of dirt everywhere.

Here’s a picture of the newly done road

As far the real That’s New Thursday, we have a question instead of information.

Is this new? No one here at Up to Date Isla can remember it, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t there before. Can someone help?

The wreath is new–the gold paint is fairly new–the statue and columns have been there for awhile–hard to see from Medina but with the road torn up most see it fairly often.

fyi–Monday, March 21, was the Anniv of the Birth of Benito Juarez, the ‘George Washington’ type, president of Rep. of Mexico–though not the first, the most revered. There was no school. It is a national holiday…I saw dignitaries putting the wreath on, and having a ceremony there in late morning. Juarez Ave.
      love this new site. gracias…
