Moving to Isla- Insights

So before we bring you our regularly scheduled programming- aka the news, one of the senior editors wanted to jump in and offer some insight into a topic that seems to come up pretty often among tourists. So here it is:

Moving to Isla. by Senior Editor #1

As someone who just jumped on a plane one day with 1 suitcase and no plan, I feel like I can speak as somewhat of an authority on the subject. And my biggest piece of advice:

Give yourself a minimum of 3 months, but if possible even longer, to truly decide if this is what you want. Find a place to rent in the area of the island that you think you are going to want to live. Isla is a pretty charming place, who isn’t enamored with the beach, weather, food, and the easy going feeling that seems to seep out of Isla’s pores. But just like every place in the entire world Isla Mujeres has it’s downsides.

I’m not going to list them here as that is not the point of this article. The point- just because you like a place when you’re on vacation does not mean, and most often means, that you will not like it as a place to live full time. Living somewhere and vacationing somewhere are two very separate things.

That being said, once you do the trial period, and you find that you do actually want to make the permanent move- great! Make sure to stay tuned for more Moving To Isla insights and tips 🙂
